Description
A quick and flavorful grilled salmon recipe featuring a sticky honey garlic glaze and smoky asparagus, perfect for outdoor cooking in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (approx. 6 oz each)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 lb)
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 cup wood chips (soaked)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir for 2-3 minutes until thickened, then remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Pat salmon fillets dry and season with salt and pepper. Trim asparagus ends and toss with avocado oil, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (400-450°F). Place soaked wood chips on foil with holes over heat source to generate smoke.
- Grill asparagus for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until tender-crisp and charred. Remove and set aside.
- Oil grill grates and place salmon skin-side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving to form a crust.
- Flip salmon, brush generously with glaze, and cook for another 3-4 minutes, brushing with glaze every 2 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 125°F.
- Remove salmon from grill and let rest for 3-5 minutes before serving alongside asparagus.
Notes
Ensure the grill is hot and oiled to prevent sticking. Apply glaze in the last few minutes to prevent burning. Resting the salmon is crucial for juiciness. Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
